21st Century Skills

A 21st century education is about giving students the skills they need to succeed in this new world,
and helping them grow the confidence to practice those skills. We focus on equipping our learners with 21st century skills of:

Critical Thinking & Problem Solving

Our belief is that we must harness the curiosity of our learners, so as to make them think. We encourage our learners to be original and divergent Thinkers, Questioners and Innovators who look at problems in a new way, and find solutions to better the lives of people around them.

Creativity

Creativity is one of the most critical skills for the future. Without creativity, there would be no innovation. We believe that when creative thinking skills are cultivated, reinforced and embedded in the classroom, they produce a groundswell, igniting every student’s imagination and capacity for innovative thinking.

Further, every learner engages with at least one art form - be it the Visual Arts like Art, Craft, Sculpture, Candle Making, Clay Modelling, Jewellery Designing, or the Performing Arts like Drama, Indian Dance, Western Dance, Indian Vocal Music, Indian Instrumental, Western Vocal Music, Western Instrumental to choose from. These activities give wings to the creative and aesthetic aspect of the learners. (artist at heart)

Creativity is ingrained in every child by giving them numerous opportunities for self-exploration and discovery. More than 30 clubs are offered to every learner to help in the self-exploration. By giving them open ended tasks/challenges, we allow our learners to think freely, imagine creatively and implement their creative ideas so as to come up with innovative solutions to problems.

Communication

There is no denying the fact that communication is one of the core means by which we connect with others. Numerous Indian and foreign languages enable our learners to express their thoughts, ideas and opinions with clarity. Language fluency and accuracy is enhanced through multiple listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing activities conducted within and beyond the classrooms which give an edge to our learners’ communication skills.

Collaboration

Collaboration is a vital skill necessary for work and life in the 21st century. We need to see ourselves as a part of the larger whole and this makes team work and collaboration an absolute necessity to navigate the future. Collaborative activities are embedded across all areas of the curriculum. Multiple learning opportunities such as Hands-on Team Activities, Group work, Socratic Seminars, Inter-class events, Inter-school competitions and Brainstorming Sessions are a regular feature at DLF to enhance learning through working together.

The conference style seating in classrooms allows for peer learning and group work. Learners are encouraged to work together to solve problems, complete tasks or learn new concepts. This helps in cultivating ownership and accountability among the learners.

Collaboration is the bedrock of all that we do – it is not just collaboration within the school but also across the country and the globe. Immense opportunities for exposure and collaboration are provided through Student Exchange Programs, Teacher Exchange Programs and School Exchange Programs. These programs are conducted in partnership with various schools in India and abroad. In addition to the above, these opportunities challenge our learners to develop a global perspective aligning it to our vision of creating global citizens of the world, for the world.
