It’s a simple idea that makes a meaningful difference specially in these challenging and unforeseen times. Asking the question, ‘how are you doing?’, can easily go beyond the surface, providing the opportunity to address an individual’s physical and socio-emotional well-being. With this intent, DLF Public School started yet another thoughtful initiative ‘ Solace Circle’ as a first step of the DLF Covid Support Group-‘ the ‘DLF Beacons of Hope’. ‘ Solace Circle ’ is inspired by the Zulu philosophy of UBUNTU- ‘I am because you are’. Led by the senior students, School Counsellors and the Principal it, is an emotional first aid to help its students and teachers build a better coping mechanism for the unknown in these unprecedented times. Senior students, teachers, School Counsellors and the Principal connected virtually over a two-hour meeting in which Delfites who were directly or indirectly affected by Covid shared their feelings in a very comforting and safe environment. They shared what helped them to cope with the challenges during the Covid situation. A key team of Empathy Leaders was created during this meeting who would function as pillars of support to provide hope to other Delfites and DLF Families who have had losses. Empathy Leaders will meet every Monday to recalibrate their plan and optimize how they can continue to anchor and support students and teachers to help them stay involved, connected and stand in support of each other just as a family should! Two weeks ago, the school has also started Counselling and Interactive Sessions for stressed parents and Delfites to help them tide over the pandemic-induced challenges. During these sessions, the School Counsellors are meeting parents and Delfites every day to address their fears, panic, anxieties and griefs. Principal Seema Jerath began the session with a personal sharing expressing how important it is not to feed your fears as it reduces your capacity. It is all about creating the right state of mind. ‘Tagda Raho’-Stay healthy and fit physically and emotionally. She further added ‘Our answer to every problem is in gratitude. So, be grateful for what you have, stand for others and become a pillar of support for others in these times. Almost all of us are facing a crisis like no other in living memory and thus it is important to stand together!’ ‘It is very important to connect with the school community and foster effective relationships. In this grave situation, we continue to move with an approach of instilling hope and confidence in our DLF Family,’ shared Executive Director, Dr. Mrignaini.
