First Ever Math Tournament in Northern India Hosted at DLF Public School DLF Public School hosted the first ever Math Tournament ‘The Game of Math 2020 – Tournament for the FEARLESS’ in collaboration with FIM, a programme for the fearless numerate enthusiasts who dare to take up challenges to reassure themselves that they stand out to be the best in numeracy aptitude. The event saw the participation of over 300 students of Classes III to VIII, parents and educators from about 14 schools across Delhi-NCR. DLF Public School has partnered with First In Math way back in 2015, to help train its young minds in the processes and patterns of Mathematics, in a way that they are encouraged and empowered to take action, explore, think mathematically, learn, grow and build a love for the Math that lasts a lifetime. The 24®Game, a brainchild of inventor Robert Sun, is a revolutionary approach invented to alleviate Math anxiety among students and emphasize taking them through the method behind the subject. 24®Game is best known for its grassroot strategy known as the 24Challenge Math Program which is a tournament-style competition organized around the 24® Game. Millions of students in more than 20 countries have participated since 1988. Principal Seema Jerath stated that hosting the Game of Math 2020 Tournament is a pleasure and privilege at once to the school, where learning has always been conceptualized as an intellectual adventure. She added that, ‘our endeavours are solely driven to propagate innovative and experiential learning and could well sow the seeds of a numeracy transformation, which is the most desired agenda of the education system today. This fun-filled motivating program brings in excitement along with learning and engagement with fascination’. Dr. Piyush Gupta, Principal Consultant, CSC Academy, Delhi, the Chief Guest appreciated the spirit of the host school and its participants who not only enjoyed engaging themselves in the Maths challenge but also encouraged and energised other schools to benefit from this program. He bestowed the Gold, Silver and bronze Medals to the winners in individual class categories. While Daksh Kumar, Grade IV, DLF Public School was declared the unbeatable Grand Champion and the gold medalist in Class III-IV Category, Arnav Srivastava, Anshika Lamba, DLF Public School were the champions in the Class V-VIII categories. Mr. Manish Chopra bagged the Champion trophy in the parent and educators category. Ms. Monica Patel, CEO, FIM India Pvt. Ltd. while representing Mr. Robert Sun felicitated Executive Director Dr. Mrignaini and Principal Seema Jerath with a special Leadership School Award for taking a lead in embracing innovation and introducing the program in their school to empower their young learners, while others were apprehensive on the efficacy of the program.
